Newborns up to 18-year-olds can get care for common illnesses, minor injuries, routine procedures and specialty surgeries. You are welcome to stay with your child throughout his or her stay, 24 hours a day.
To give your child the best care, we partner with:
To find a doctor, use our Find a Physician tool.
Specially trained family birth nurses and neonatal nurse practitioners from Children's Hospitals and Clinics provide extra support in the level-2 Special Care Nursery for infants born up to 6 weeks early. Nurses provide one-to-one care for the babies, carefully monitoring vital signs; giving medications, food and fluids; and watching closely for problems.
When available, there is a guest room for parents to stay close to their baby.
Help your child reduce anxiety and stress before surgery by bringing him or her to the hospital for a tour before the big day.
During this hourlong tour we visit a surgical suite, including the room where the child will get ready for surgery and the room he or she will wake up in. You and your child can also touch some of the surgery equipment and learn what it does, and you can ask as many questions as you want.
Pediatric presurgical tours are offered on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The entire family is welcome to join. To register for a tour or get more information, call 952.428.2565.
